A few weeks after opening a direct route to New York, the Star Alliance member airline has plans to resume flights to San Francisco and expand flights to Los Angeles as demand for cargo surges.

According to Aviator, starting from December 2nd, Singapore Airlines will upgrade its Los Angeles flights to five times a week. The flight time of this route is 17 hours and 50 minutes. Throughout the epidemic, the A350-900LR class 3 aircraft maintained the route, including 42 business class, 24 premium economy class and 187 economy class seats.

On December 17, Singapore Airlines will return to Golden Gate City on a weekly non-stop flight. The airline operates two-cabin A350-900ULR, which will provide 67 business class seats and 94 premium economy class seats.

According to "Business Insider" reports, in a period of high demand, flights from the West Coast of the United States will be an urgently needed means of boosting capacity and profitability for Singapore Airlines. According to Aviator, they will satisfy the transportation of goods including electronics, perishables and medicines, as well as the transportation of high-value, time-sensitive goods.

Singapore Airlines Vice President of Americas Shao Zuyi said: "Our direct flights provide the fastest and most convenient way to travel between the United States and Southeast Asia, so we are very happy to begin to restore these travel options for our customers."

The US Embassy in Singapore stated that, with a few exceptions, US citizens are still prohibited from visiting Singapore for short periods of time. However, according to the Singapore Airlines website, passengers can transit through Singapore to their next destination on an approved route.

Before Singapore Airlines expanded in the US, it had its biggest quarterly loss to date. Due to a 99% drop in passenger traffic, Singapore Airlines said it plans to retire 26 aircraft.
