Container freight from Asia to Europe also surged unexpectedly. In December alone, the freight from China to northern Europe increased by more than 60%, and the freight to Rotterdam even increased nearly sixfold throughout the year.
As for the shortage of containers, according to the survey of China's shipping boom, more than 90% of container enterprises said that the shortage of containers will last for three months or more. Therefore, the shortage of containers still exists in the short term.
In addition, eight major trans Pacific eastbound container shipping companies have updated their reported freight rates in FMC, and gri has increased by about $1000 since February 1, 2021. Shipping companies include CMA CGM, COSCO, evergreen, Hapag Lloyd, HMM, Ocean Network Express (one), Yang Ming and Zim.
