On November 17, CMA CGM Group announced the launch of a full range of value-added services, ACT with CMA CGM+.

The service includes four specific measures that enable customers to analyze their environmental footprint, use cleaner alternative energy sources, and offset the carbon emissions generated during the transportation of goods. This service is applicable to all shipping subsidiaries of CMA CGM.

   Specifically, these four measures include:

  CLEANER ENERGY LNG

  Clean Energy Liquefied Natural Gas

Through CLEANER ENERGY LNG service, customers can choose to use LNG to transport cargo. This new technology can eliminate almost all air pollutants, thereby improving air quality. Through higher energy efficiency and the use of renewable biomethane, greenhouse gas emissions can be greatly reduced.

  CLEANER ENERGY BIOFUEL

  Clean Energy Biofuel

Through the CLEANER ENERGY BIOFUEL service, customers can choose to use biofuels made from waste edible oil as a cargo transportation solution.

  ECO MONITOR

   Ecological Monitoring

By using ECO MONITOR, customers will be able to track their environmental footprint in real time, and use this data more conveniently to take action.

  POSITIVE OFFSET

   active carbon neutral

According to CMA CGM, this service will be launched in 2021. Through the POSITIVE OFFSET service, customers can offset their emissions by participating in the gold standard carbon storage project in the local community.

CMA CGM predicts that by 2022, the group will have 26 container ships powered by LNG. Currently, 7 of them have been put into use.

It is worth noting that CMA CGM is also the first shipping company to successfully use biofuels on container ships.

More importantly, these alternative fuels can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15% to 85%, thereby providing a wide range of solutions to the problem of cargo decarbonization.

In addition, by mixing and matching various solutions of the ACT series products, CMA CGM's customers can achieve carbon neutrality of their cargo and help promote the energy transformation of the shipping industry, which accounts for 90% of international trade in goods.

Marc Bourdon, Senior Vice President of Commercial Network of CMA CGM Group, said in an interview: “CMA CGM Group has always believed that there is an inherent connection between business performance and the group’s social and environmental performance. We have made a groundbreaking decision to advance The transition to clean energy and help promote the development of the entire industry. Through ACT with CMA CGM, we will share solutions for shipping energy transition and provide our customers with effective solutions."
